Elizabeth Philips’ poetry collection The Time of the Great Singing has been beautifully reviewed in Mary W. Walter’s Book Reviews.
Philips’s language throughout is elegant and stunning, the design and structure of each poem confident and assured. The body of the poem, “Walking Out After, on the Trail, Crushed Warblers” doesn’t even mention those broken birds. We realize only in retrospect that the title itself is about what comes after the horrific storm which is the subject of the poem itself.
