The Mystics of Mile End by Sigal Samuel wins the Canadian Jewish Literary Award

The Mystics of Mile End by Sigal Samuel has won the 2016 Canadian Jewish Literary Award for Fiction. Congratulations, Sigal!

About the novel, the jury said, “The Mystics of Mile End (Freehand Books), a first novel by former Montrealer Sigal Samuel, captures the spirit of the duality of one of the world’s most vibrant neighborhoods. At once an exploration of Kabbalah, queer culture and physics, the book is a family saga that grapples with the tensions between science and faith. To discover a new writer with so much talent and potential is a singular thrill.”

The award will be presented at a gala awards ceremony on October 30, 2016, at 2 pm, in the Tribute Communities Recital Hall, Accolade East Building at York University in Toronto. All are invited and admission is free. To RSVP, please visit cjla2016.eventbrite.ca.
