September 13, 2020: Dede Crane online book launch celebration

You’re invited to a virtual celebration of Dede Crane’s One Madder Woman, a dazzling novel exploring the life of Berthe Morisot, the sole female member of the original group of artists that became known as the Impressionists. We’d love to see you there!

Sunday, September 13, 2020
2-3 pm Pacific / 5-6 pm Eastern

This Zoom link will take you to the meeting:

Dede will talk about how she became interested in Berthe Morisot, and will share many of the paintings (by Morisot and other renowned Impressionist artists) that were pivotal in crafting the narrative. Questions from the audience (via Zoom comments) are encouraged.

“What an enchanting world! Trailblazing artists, smouldering sensuality, and the rare mind of a visual artist who changed the way we see. Every time I left the book, I rushed to return, to be beguiled again by Crane’s deft and painterly vision, and her penetrating exploration of a woman genius at work in a field utterly dominated by men.” — Shaena Lambert, author of Petra and Oh, My Darling

“I was so invested in the story of this tumultuous and beautiful life that I kept reading one more chapter, then another and another, late into the night.” — Joan MacLeod, winner of the Siminovitch Prize and Governor General’s Award

Dede Crane is a nationally acclaimed author of five books of fiction and a co-editor of Great Expectations, essays on childbirth. Her work has been shortlisted for the CBC Literary Prize, the Western Magazine Award, the CLA Award, the Ontario Library Best Book Award, the Bolen Book Prize and the Victoria Butler Book Prize, among others. She lives on Gabriola Island, British Columbia.
