Ian Williams chats with Megan Power in the Chronicle Herald about what he did with his Danuta Gleed winnings and what he’s working on next. “In contemporary fiction there’s a lot of fireworks and pyrotechnics in the language, but the emotional core is disaffected or alienated and people want something deeper than protagonists that are feeling aloof. I’ve started to feel oppressed by over-caffeinated writing. I’m thinking that maybe the way to go is clean, beautiful sentences.” Read the interview.
